Minimizing Car Expenses

Gas prices will continue to rise. If you own a car or two, then it’s really important that you find ways to save money. Here are some money-saving tips for you.

Review your insurance. If your car is between two and three thousand dollars, consider cancelling your collision coverage. You can save this money and use it for your next car’s down payment.

Make sure your tires are suitably inflated. Your gas mileage will fall if your tires are under inflated. Keep tires at the recommended pressure and note that your gas mileage should be stable.

You don’t have to change your oil too often. You don’t have to change your oil every 300 miles unless you drive only in the city. Most cars can last up to 7500 miles between changes. But you should also know that you must change your oil twice a year even if you don’t drive often.

You can do some simple maintenance yourself. You can change the wipers, air filter, battery, and tires. Other people will charge a lot for these simple tasks.

Just use regular gas. You don’t have to use premium gas if your car needs regular gas. Using premium gas will not help your car run better, and it just costs you more money.

Don’t purchase a comprehensive warranty. You should know that in most cases, what you pay for an extended warranty is usually more than the warranty is worth. If you feel that a particular car model requires an extended warranty, perhaps you should consider shopping for a vehicle that is much more dependable.

You can save a lot of money by washing and waxing your car yourself. Treat yourself to the services of a car wash no more than 2-3 times per year.

Do as the manufacturer recommends. The manufacturers know just how long the car parts should last. So you should make sure that you change your timing belt, fuel filter, brakes, tires, and shocks before they become a problem. You should know that cars today don’t need tune ups for as long as a hundred thousand miles.

Use a private garage. You don’t have to take your Chevy to the Chevrolet dealership for service. If there is a local garage that knows the make and model of your car and that can give great service, use that so you can save a lot of money.

Gas prices would only rise continuously. So make sure you do the necessary things to make sure your car won’t cost you more than it should.
